Project Manager Duties
PLANNING YOUR BUILD
easy Decide what you will do with your old kitchen (skip, local dump, re-sell Online). Plan how you will cook while your kitchen is out of action.
challenge Get your plans designed and have all main kitchen components delivered to your property incl: Units, Worktops, Sink, Taps, Appliances, Lighting, Flooring, Splashback Tiles. For glass splashbacks, wait until units are installed.
1. GET YOUR PLANS MADE
You can either get a retailer like Wren or Magnet to draw you up some plans, or use an online tool like the one Ikea has to draw your new kitchen layout.
Make sure to mark any new electrics you want incl. sockets, down lights, under-counter LED lighting.
Guide below is based on a small / medium sized kitchen.

PREP FOR STAGE 2
easy Find a Plumber in prep for stage 2 (five minute job on Subbies). Text some photos of your job and kitchen plan you had made. Ask if your plumber requires any materials for first-fix plumbing, and get them ordered.
2. REMOVE OLD KITCHEN

“Remove entire kitchen (including floor if you wish to replace). Install water, waste and radiator pipes to match the locations in your new kitchen plan.”
Gas hob and boiler replacement (1)
If you have gas and are moving the location of your hob, or replacing your boiler, this is the stage you will want to find a Gas Engineer on Subbies and ask them to move the pipework to the locations shown in your new kitchen plan.

easy Find an Electrician in prep for stage 3 (five minute job on Subbies). Text some photos of your job and kitchen plan you had made. Ask if your electrician requires any materials for first-fix electrics, and get them ordered.
3. INSTALL NEW CABLES

“Install first-fix cables for sockets, lights extractor fan, and appliances to match locations in the the new kitchen plan you had made.”

4. PLASTERING

challengeIf you are installing glass splashbacks, now is the time to measure up the sizes and get them ordered.
5. DECORATING

“Decorate kitchen using paint you have chosen.”

easy Find a Carpenter for wood floor, or Tiler for tiled floor (five minute job on Subbies). Text some photos of your job and kitchen plan you had made. Ask if your floor fitter requires any materials, and get them ordered.
6. NEW FLOOR (if replacing)
Carpenter or Tiler on day rate2 days
“Install new floor. Use a carpenter for wooden floors or a tiler if you are having tiles or flagstones.”

7. KITCHEN FITTING

“Build and install new units, worktops and sink basin.”
Gas hob and boiler replacement (2)
This is the stage you will want to find a Gas Engineer on Subbies and ask them to connect your gas hob, and replace your boiler if it is part of your project.

easy Find a Tiler in prep for stage 8 (five minute job on Subbies). Text some photos of your job and kitchen plan you had made. Ask if your Tiler requires any materials, and get them ordered.
8. INSTALL SPLASHBACKS

9. FINAL ELECTRICS

10. FINAL PLUMBING
